How to Join the IB Magnet Program for 2012-2013

New to CMS?

If you are entering CMS for 2012-2013, and you want to consider a magnet school, you must enroll in CMS for 2012-2013 by December 2, 2011.

How to enroll for 2012-2013 :

1. Get enrollment packet from CMS website (click here to access the enrollment information directly).

2. Complete enrollment forms and collect required documents:

• Certified Birth Certificate   (no hospital, souvenir or Mother copies)
• Three   Proofs of Mecklenburg County Residency (see website for specific proofs accepted)
• Safe Schools Enrollment Declaration    ( Required for students transferring into CMS)
• Current   Immunization records   (Complete record required by 1st day of school entry)

3. Submit paperwork to any CMS school or to the Student Placement Office, 700 Marsh Road, Charlotte, NC 28209.

4. During the first week in January, you will receive a letter indicating your school for next school year, along with instructions on how to choose a different school in the Magnet Lottery.

5. Visit schools you are considering in the lottery. Click here for East's open houses and information sessions.

6. Follow the instructions in the letter to participate in the lottery; if you do not participate in the lottery, you will automatically be assigned to the school on your letter.

Note: If East is your home school, and you want to be part of the IB program, you must participate in the lottery!

Already in CMS?
